I first heard this song on a road trip during my college days, and it has remained a favorite ever since. Sea Cruise stands out from its contemporaries due to its infectious melody, timeless lyrics, and unique ability to transport listeners to the nostalgic world of 1950s doo-wop music. Huey “Piano” Smith, born in 1934, was an American rhythm and blues pianist and bandleader. He started his career at a young age, performing in New Orleans clubs and garnering attention for his energetic piano playing style.

Carnival requires that all guests have a valid government-issued photo ID. It is important to note that some itineraries may require additional documentation, such as a visa or proof of vaccination. Similarly, all Europe and transatlantic cruises also require US citizens to carry passports valid for at least 6 months after their visit.

The food item I most recommend you try when sailing on Carnival Jubilee is an order of beignets at Emeril's. Pillows of soft fried dough coated in powdered sugar with chocolate and strawberry sauces for dipping are $5 for an order of six. During my visit, I ordered a pound of stone crab claws in garlic butter (market price) with red beans and rice ($3) and a brie bowl ($6). My only complaint is that, apart from a claw cracker, there were no other tools available to get to the crab meat. (I asked.) My waiter had no bibs or wet wipes to offer, which left me a bit messy afterward.

Minors

Alcohol purchased pre-cruise through The Fun Shops for on board consumption is designed for in-stateroom entertainment only. Only wine or champagne that is ordered through The Fun Shops can be served in the dining room or Steakhouse. If the item is not consumed on board during the cruise, the guest may take it home provided the bottle has not been opened. Explore beautiful spots spread across Maui, Kauai and the Big Island, and drink in the natural beauty only Hawaii delivers. On this exciting trip, you can deep sea fish for marlin, explore forest caves and waterfalls, soak up the sun on a black-sand beach and attend a traditional luau.

Traveling with Minors

Most nights are designated "cruise casual," which means just that — khakis or jeans, polo shirts, sundresses and the like. Super casual items such as cutoff jeans, men's sleeveless shirts, T-shirts and gym shorts are supposedly not permitted, but I saw plenty of them in the dining rooms during dinnertime on Carnival Jubilee. My favorite bar on Carnival Jubilee is the Marina Bar in The Shores zone on Deck 8. It offers a menu of adult beverages, but it also serves the same specialty coffees you'll find at JavaBlue, which often has a long line. Both serve the same menu for dinner, but only the larger Pacific Restaurant is open for Sea Day Brunch on sea days and breakfast (but not lunch) on port days.

These cards cannot be used to travel by air outside the United States. In the Eastern Caribbean, find dream destinations like Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic and Grand Turk in the Turks and Caicos archipelago. In Amber Cove, you can tour the Dominican outback, soak up the sun on Coconut Cove Beach, or ride the Waterfalls of Rio de Damajagua. On Grand Turk, enjoy swimming with stingrays, riding horses along the coast, or touring the island by ATV.

Onceon board, the purchase is non-refundable and guests may take home any unopenedbottles. Birth certificates from Puerto Rico issued prior to July 1, 2010, are not valid forms of proof of citizenship and are not accepted by U.S. Guests from Puerto Rico either need to present a WHTI-compliant document or a government-issued photo ID with a validated birth certificate issued after July 1, 2010.

PLAN FOR FUN

Passengers can carry on one bottle of wine or Champagne per person (21 years and older); this will incur a $15 corkage fee for consumption in public areas. Each person can also bring up to 12 standard cans or cartons of nonalcoholic beverages like juice or soda. The second new show is the "Lone Star Tailgate." Drawing on Texas' love for all things football, Carnival has created four indoor/outdoor "quarters" of fun to mimic the four quarters of a football game.

carnival cruise passport

Carnival Jubilee offers the same ride — the third of its kind on a cruise ship — in the deck 18, 19 and 20 Ultimate Playground area. The ship shares Carnival's "zone" concept with its two older sisters, meaning it has dedicated areas for dining, drinking, entertainment and outdoor fun, including Bolt, a top-deck roller coaster. The biggest differences on the newest iteration are in two reinvented zones, Currents and The Shores; respectively, they take the place of The French Quarter and La Piazza on Mardi Gras, and The Gateway and 820 Biscayne on Carnival Celebration. As you plan, make sure your itinerary includes transportation to the cruise terminal and that you arrive well ahead of time for your departure.

Within those categories, Carnival Jubilee offers three types of special cabins. First is Family Harbor, which offers nautically themed cabins that sleep up to five people and rooms that can be connected via an interior door. Families booked in Family Harbor cabins have access to a dedicated Family Harbor Lounge, which offers daily breakfast, snacks and drinks, as well as board games and TVs with a selection of movies and video games. They also receive a free night of babysitting in the kids club so parents can enjoy some alone time.

Smoking is also allowed on the starboard side of the casino, but it's for cigarettes only. At the time of publication, prices started from $709 per person ($101 per person per night) for an inside cabin or $919 per person ($131 per person per night) for balcony accommodations. The third and fourth quarters occur in the Summer Landing zone; passengers can rope hay bales, participate in a hot wing-eating contest at Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse and follow it up with music from a live band. Another excellent show is "Rio Carnival," which occurs at Center Stage in the Grand Central zone instead of the main theater. Although the first half felt a bit shaky and slightly boring to me, the second half redeemed it all, featuring a parade of dancers and aerialists dressed in flamboyant costumes synonymous with Rio de Janeiro's Carnival.

Hang the "SNOOZIN'" card on the outside of your door, and no one will bother you — but your room won't be cleaned that day. Fully accessible rooms are stair-free, flat-threshold cabins, which offer wider (32-inch) doorways, turning space and bathrooms equipped with grab bars and shower seats. Oddly, there were some discrepancies on board that I was surprised to see on a ship that's been sailing for several months. Combining noise with the annoyance of hawking alcohol, the roving waiters visited every table at Chibang! — the ship's hybrid Mexican-Asian restaurant — one night while I was having dinner there.

If guests have not pre-paid their gratuities, the recommended, per person, amount will be posted to their Sail & Sign account on the second to last day of the cruise. Should a guest not be satisfied with the service they receive, they can contact the Guest Services desk while on board. This will allow us to address their concerns in a timely and appropriate fashion. At the discretion of the guest, gratuities may be adjusted after they have been posted on the guest's account, while on board. Gratuities, as posted on a guest's Sail & Sign account, will be considered final after a guest disembarks and no changes will be made after the cruise. Guests are prohibited from bringing large coolers sincescreening and movement of large coolers through embarkation is an impediment tothe boarding and security process.

And don't forget your personal toiletries (travel size or standard container size). Depending on the sailing, some cruises – even though they may be closed loop itineraries – still require all guests to have valid passports. For example, all Carnival cruises that visit Greenland require a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after the last day of the cruise.

During online check-in, you will be asked to select an arrival appointment. Due to security protocol, last minute bookings made within 24 hours of sailing will require guests to undergo a secondary screening. Even though passports are not required at this time for U.S. citizens who sail on cruises to the above destinations that begin and end in the same U.S. port, we strongly recommend that all cruise passengers travel with a valid passport anyway. For example, a passenger missing a cruise departure due to a late inbound flight to Miami would need a passport to fly to meet the ship at the next port. Though most foreign travel requires that you have a valid passport to come back home, cruising makes it easier to enjoy your vacation without worrying about this paperwork. If you are a US citizen, you can take a “closed-loop cruise” (one that begins and ends at the same port) to The Bahamas without a passport.

Turkey has a long and beautiful costliane, and adventure cruises offer the chance to explore some of the lesser-known gems of this impressive part of the world. The shoreline is dotted with beautiful tiny islands, clear blue waters and long sandy beaches. On cruises including Istanbul, the food and drink are unparalleled.

These airports have direct flights from major European airports, and seasonal flights are also available to smaller airports at Dalyan and Bodrum. For those traveling further afield, flying directly to Istanbul International Airport and then to the coastal airports from there is possible. In Istanbul's bazaars and many tourist shops, sellers can be quite brazenly and annoyingly persistent. When shopping for rugs, know that it's customary for the seller to offer shoppers cups of tea. It's considered good manners to accept, particularly if you are genuinely shopping (as opposed to browsing casually). A geographic and metaphoric melding of East and West, Istanbul is the world's only city covering two continents.

First Look at Celebrity Beyond, Celebrity Cruises' Newest Ship

newest celebrity cruise ship

The Celebrity Revolution on their newer ships includes transforming older ships to match their newer fleet’s modern amenities and design elements, offering an enhanced cruise experience. The expedition ships in Celebrity Cruises’ fleet offer a unique cruise vacation focused on exploration and adventure, providing a different experience than traditional cruises. The newest Celebrity ship is typically also the Celebrity ship with the most bells and whistles and the most up-to-date venues, including cabins, restaurants, bars and attractions.

More Royal Caribbean

Enjoy postcard-worthy views from the Panorama Deck, or take a dip in the hot tub on the Sunrise Deck. Passengers can choose from a handful of elegant rooms and suites; however, those who want their own balcony will need to spring on the latter. The refurbishments also updated staterooms in general, and added new children’s features, as well as Xcelerate WiFi.

Celebrity's oldest Millennium-class ships, by contrast, only carry about 2,100 passengers at double occupancy. As a result, they have a more intimate feel, at least in the pantheon of relatively big, mass-market ships. Newer Celebrity Cruises ships generally are bigger than older Celebrity ships — in some cases by as much as 35% bigger.

Wonder awaits you on these popular cruise itineraries aboard one of our award-winning ships. On Edge-series ships, experience the magic of an Infinite Veranda® stateroom, where the push of a button gives you open-air access to the sea, taking your room right to the water’s edge. At The Retreat, stay in one of our spectacular suites, like the Iconic Suite that offers unparalleled views from above the captain’s bridge, and our breathtaking two-story Edge Villas that come with their own private plunge pool.

The Newest Celebrity Ships Being Built

There's also a small stage for live musicians to perform and a grand piano. Every nook and cranny onboard Celebrity Beyond feels intentional - we've truly never seen a ship more modern and beautiful. Even the large letters of Eden were filled with plants, which perfectly accentuates the overall the white and grey hues throughout the ship. Everything onboard is very modern while still feeling warm and intimate. Celebrity Beyond is the newest ship from Celebrity Cruises - and it's like nothing the cruise industry has seen before. Whether you cruise multiple times per year or you're new to cruising, the goal of Royal Caribbean Blog is for it to be a useful resource for keeping up to date with what's new and exciting with Royal Caribbean.

Celebrity Beyond's maiden voyage departs Southampton on April 27, 2022, from Southampton, on a 10-night cruise to Bordeaux, France; Lisbon, Portugal; and Seville, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona, Spain. Celebrity Beyond will then spend the summer sailing in the Mediterranean before repositioning to Florida. The new-look Martini Bar -- another hugely popular drinking venue -- is sure to be another big hit, centered beneath a dazzling LED chandelier in the Grand Plaza. Instead of being a carbon copy of siblings Celebrity Edge, launched in 2018, and Celebrity Apex, launched in 2021, Celebrity Beyond is longer (by almost 69 feet), taller (by one deck) and offers a raft of new and reworked features.

Newer ships are decked out with more and more restaurants, entertainment options and even stateroom and suite options. The Celebrity brand also does a nice job of blending classic cruising elegance with top-of-the-line tech and cruising amenities. In short, Celebrity Cruises ships are, for the most part, sophisticated and the newest ships in this long-standing fleet offer all the latest, greatest and best in cruising. Another innovative feature of the Edge-class ships is the 90-ton platform along the side of each of the vessels called the Magic Carpet. As big as a tennis court, the platforms are cantilevered over the side of the vessels and can be raised and lowered to serve different functions — from a waterside bar to a water shuttle boarding area.

Choose from over 300 exciting destinations and thousands of shore excursions. Luxurious accommodations provide the sanctuary you need after a thrilling day in port. Indulge in culinary creations designed exclusively by a Michelin-starred chef.

Some of our preferred drinking and dining spots directly overlook the Grand Plaza, including outward-facing seats at the new World Class Bar and romantic booths at Fine Cut Steakhouse. From jaw-dropping artwork around the ship to the upmarket design of Le Voyage and the new World Class cocktail bar, Celebrity Beyond balances extraordinary beauty with functionality. Sunset Bar is open to the elements, so while not often suitable for a damp and drizzly day on France's Atlantic coast in April, we can't think of a better spot to enjoy sundowners when sailing in the Mediterranean or Caribbean. When you consider the three-course menu at Boulud’s signature New York restaurant sets diners back $225 per person, $125 feels like a reasonable price for what could be some of the best modern French cuisine at sea. Whether you want to clear your mind, fine-tune your body, reinvigorate your spirit—or all of the above—The Spa and Fitness Center is an indulgent escape where you can do it all.

You won't find any splash pads or waterslides onboard Celebrity Beyond; instead, the top deck has tons of open spaces for cruisers to lounge, swim or relax. The private Retreat Sundeck, Deck 17 forward, is spread over two decks on Celebrity Beyond, adding extra value for suite-passenger with more secluded spaces outside. There’s also an extra Jacuzzi, while The Retreat Sundeck's pool has been moved so it's outward facing at the front of the ship.

The oldest ships in the Celebrity fleet thus appeal to a subset of Celebrity fans who prefer more intimacy in a cruise vessel and don't mind giving up some onboard amenities to get it. The Edge-class vessels aren't just the newest ships in the Celebrity fleet but are also the most advanced vessels in the Celebrity fleet. Designed to carry 2,908 to 3,260 passengers apiece at double occupancy, they each have such innovative new features as "infinite veranda" cabins with outward-facing walls that are entirely made of glass. Other relatively new Celebrity cruise ships include Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Flora and Celebrity Edge. While there aren’t too many new ships currently being built for Celebrity, the rest of the Edge Class is still relatively new and so still offers that fresh experience of boarding a cruise ship when it looks its best.

Unfortunately, while Celebrity’s Revolution initiative did impact a large number of the cruise line’s ships, it hasn’t impacted Celebrity Solstice just yet. Because of this, you won’t see certain, newer features or design elements on this ship. Also updated as part of Celebrity’s Revolution initiative that brought a good portion of its fleet up to the most modern of standards, Celebrity Equinox was the second Solstice-class ship for the cruise line. When it comes to Celebrity Flora, this ship was designed particularly to cater to travelers taking adventurous trips to the Galapagos Islands. What are the primary differences between the older and newer Celebrity Cruises ships? The differences all come down to a few key factors, including size, luxury, and amenities.

Celebrity Infinity is the second ship in the Millennium Class and sister to the Celebrity Summit, Celebrity Millennium, and Celebrity Constellation. Celebrity Summit is the second ship in the Millennium Class and sister to the Celebrity Infinity, Celebrity Millennium, and Celebrity Constellation. She is 91,000 GRTs and has a capacity of 2,599 passengers (based on two per cabin).

Juneau Takes Steps to Limit Cruise Ship Passengers

But they’re usually priced per person, so larger groups might find it better to seek another option. Disney cruises from New Orleans are a great choice for a memorable and exciting family vacation, but many people wonder if they are affordable. Unfortunately, no Disney cruises from New Orleans stop in Castaway Cay or elsewhere in the Bahamas. Instead, Disney Magic passengers can sail from New Orleans to Mexico, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman.

The Theme Nights and Shows are Worth the Hype

Like New Orleans, the Disney Magic is filled with both family-friendly and adult-approved fun for all. The 11-deck ship comes complete with main areas, family areas, youth areas, adult areas, and different dining options. Pools, salons, cafes, lounges, youth centers, theaters and more are among the special amenities that can be found throughout the ship. For a limited time, the Disney Magic is offering a selection of four, five, and seven-night Bahamian and Caribbean cruises porting out of New Orleans. Disney Cruise travelers may want to arrive in New Orleans a day or two before their cruise.

The parking lot is sheltered from the elements and surrounded by barbed wire fences.

What is the Best Way to Get from the Airport to the Port of New Orleans?

For families, the Disney Wonder offers signature Disney entertainment and storytelling, including original theatrical productions, spectacular deck parties, and fireworks. The Disney Wonder will embark on a variety of Caribbean and Bahamian cruises from New Orleans – the first time Disney Cruise Line will have a home port in Louisiana. Not only will this provide families from the region with the magic of having a Disney ship in their own backyard, but it will also draw families from farther away to discover this incredible city before they set sail. Disney Magic is also one of the best Disney cruise ships for first-time guests because it’s easy to navigate.

Julia Street Cruise Terminal, located at 920 Port of NewOrleans Place, serves ships from Norwegian Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean International. The New Orleans Cruise Terminal is located right in thecenter of the city. The French Quarter is just a short drive away, as isdowntown New Orleans.

The advantage of this is that you will have some wiggle room in your travel plans in case of flight delays or traffic congestion upon arrival, as well as time to explore the charming city. Your best options are Avis, Enterprise, Hertz, or Budget, as these companies have drop-off locations right near Port NOLA. The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) is the best airport in New Orleans for flying to and from a Disney cruise. The airport is 15.7 miles from Port NOLA and is serviced by many airlines, shuttles, taxis, and ridesharing companies. There’s also a spa, fitness club, bars, lounges, and other adult-only areas.

We enjoyed The Golden Mickeys, Frozen and Disney Dreams Frozen and all of the productions were absolutely 100% Broadway caliber. The shows are another way to sneak in some Disney characters without standing in absurdly long lines all day. Much of the music is familiar, and the special effects will blow you away. While all of the shows were solid and held our family’s attention,  truly took the cake as a musical we’d gladly see again. The unique take on a household classic was mesmerizing, so it’s a “not to miss” if you have the chance to enjoy it.

Tweens and teens have the opportunity to chill, mix and mingle with each other at Edge and the Vibe. These dorm-inspired spaces are the perfect places for cruisers their age to meet, watch TV, listen to music and engage. Disney Cruise Line offers cruises from New Orleans to Cozumel, Mexico and the Western Caribbean. If you plan to stay in New Orleans before or after your Disney cruise, there is an abundance of high-quality hotels available near Port New Orleans and the New Orleans Airport to give you an authentic taste of the region.

I have to admit that one of my biggest apprehensions about cruising with kids was being “trapped,” so to speak, in a confined space. Even though we are out of diapers in our household (hallelujah), traveling with three kids still requires a LOT of stuff. I was genuinely worried that we’d have nowhere to put our belongings and would feel cramped, so imagine my surprise when some of our favorite cruise memories happened in state room 8506.

In 2019, PortNOLA welcomed 1.20 million cruise passengers and 251 cruise vessels. The number of cruise passengers has mostly recovered since the pandemic outbreak. Most of Disney’s business has historically come from passengers embarking on Disney cruises from Florida, especially Miami and Port Canaveral. However, Disney cruises from Fort Lauderdale, Galveston, New York, and San Diego are also available. The Disney Magic takes you to some of the region’s most spectacular beaches and fascinating cultural sights while traversing the majestic Western Caribbean seas. Below are some details on the ports Disney cruises stop at on their New Orleans departures.

Throughout the 2024 Disney cruise season, Disney Magic sails from New Orleans, LA, on various exciting itineraries in the Western Caribbean. Cruises of four, five, and seven nights depart from New Orleans and visit exotic destinations like Cozumel, Mexico, Progreso, Mexico, and George Town, Grand Cayman. Taxis are really easy to pick up from the airport andthey’ll drive you right up to your cruise terminal. What makes these easy isyou don’t have to book anything in advance, and they’ll easily take 1-2 peoplefrom the airport to the cruise terminal for a flat rate of $36.

The downside is that taxis are slightly more expensive than comparable ridesharing services like Uber. The best way to reach the Port of New Orleans is by flying into the city (unless you’re close enough to drive).

The Carnival Liberty will set sail from New Orleans this summer and make multiple stops at beach vacation destinations. If you’re arriving to the terminal from the south, driveright past the Erato Street Cruise Terminal to get to the Julia StreetTerminal. SeaCaps will take your checked baggage directly to the shipfor you, then once you park just take the convenient elevator down to theterminal to board. The garage for the Erato Street Cruise Terminal is locatedabove the terminal. As you approach the terminal you will see a circular rampthat will take you up to the garage.

On this 7 Night Western Caribbean sailing, the ship will visit a total of 4 different cruise port destinations, including its departure port. The Disney Magic sets sail on a Friday (February 9, 2024) and returns on a Friday (February 16, 2024). As it relates to safety, all kids are checked in and out of the youth area by using their Oceaneer bands, as well as a secret passcode that the parents set up for them (and yes, we were asked for it every single time). During our cruise there were always multiple cast members standing at the entrance, and we always felt very confident in leaving our children to their care. All kids wash their hands upon entering, and the children’s area always felt exceptionally clean.
