There is one creepy conceit in There’s Someone Inside Your House, but that one genuinely spooky detail can’t counter the overall familiarity. There’s Someone Inside Your House is intermittently effective, but ultimately unremarkable, and it feels like a product of its time in disappointing ways.
That superficiality means that There’s Someone Inside Your House has to offer something unique in the slasher department to set itself apart, and results are uneven there, too. In an unnerving touch, the killer wears a 3D-printed copy of their latest victim’s face. That costuming choice underscores the killer’s ideology that each of the victims deserves death for their hypocrisy.

That's right, the gimmick isn't even the gimmick. Also, the unspoken rule that the first two kills establish -- that the local bogeyman is going after people who are secretly bad people -- gets entirely demolished by the third kill when the target is a decent person. While the cast of characters is strong, and the setup is fun, the plot ultimately leaves something to be desired. Luckily, for those who got lost in the weeds in this story, Decider is here to help. Yes, there's a certain formula that has, and still can, work for the teen slasher genre. But that also means it can easily enough get thrown together in a half-hearted manner for a movie that only seems to care about checking various genre boxes for the sake of Netflix's "Top Picks for You" column than delivering something fresh and fun. This 1980s-inspired slasher movie might not break any new ground, but it’s less fixated on the past than other horror films of late. I would say no because I grew up doing sitcoms.
But those slasher sequences lack the propulsive energy and over-the-top grotesquerie needed to jolt There’s Someone Inside Your House to life. There are bursts of blood from sliced-open tendons, torsos, and throats, but the artificiality of that candy-red gore extends to the whole contrived movie. The graduating class at Osborne High is being targeted by a masked assailant, intent on exposing the darkest secret of each victim, and only a group of misfit outsiders can stop the killings... Alex is convinced the killer is Ollie (Theodore Pellerin), the outcast of outcasts who gives her bad vibes — “Yeah, you, all-in-black school-shooter style icon,” she snipes — but nobody knows that he and Makani have been secretly doing a lot more than just kissing.
In "There's Someone Inside Your House," it appears that everyone has deep, dark secrets, including those who you'd least expect. Thankfully, Makani's friends reassure her that her mistake doesn't define her as a person, and we see a glimmer of hope for redemption in Makani's future.
